Ski Site

ULM Skiers practice and hold home tournaments on Bayou DeSiard, located on campus adjacent to the ULM AlumniCenter. On campus skiing makes daily practice accessible and convenient for skiers to get sets in before and after classes. This is also helpful as most of the ULM Skiers are three event skiers and are often skiing several times each day. The ULM Water Ski Team has a permanent boat ramp and dock facility on the Bayou, along with a covered boat slip. The fiberglass jump ramp was built by Rob Bemman and placed into service in 2004. In August of 2007, the ULM Water Ski Team took receipt of their MasterCraft 2008 ProStar 197 Ski Boat from Gus Campbell WaterSports and BoatingCenter. This beautiful maroon and gold boat (ULM school colors) looks great every day pulling the team in the Bayou.

Collegiate Tournaments

The ULM Water Ski Team competes in the National Collegiate Water Ski Association (NCWSA) South Central Region. There are typically three tournaments held in the Fall before the finishing the season with the NCWSA National Championship Tournament in October. There are two to three tournaments in the Spring Semester. ULM provides transportation to our tournaments, a per diem amount for meals and pays for skier’s entry fees as well as hotel accommodations.

Scholarships

ULM provides excellent scholarships for Water Skiers. The University of Louisiana at Monroe Water Ski program focuses on the pride and determination of individuals striving for perfection and excellence in education as well as water skiing. Up and coming athletes, along with world class skiers, work countless hours on the water in order to compete and excel on the national and international level. The ULM Water Ski Team is a source of pride for ULM. Members of the ULM Ski Team are recognized for their outstanding accomplishments by both ULM Students and the University Administration.
